In this free post we look at the 2022 statistics of the Brazil Serie A. We compare the Serie A to the other top 20 leagues in world on average goals per game, both teams to score, clean sheets, over goals for a range of markets and clean sheets. We analyse if there are trends that the Brazil Serie A follows, which our members can then take advantage of.
The Brazil Serie A is a league made up of 20 teams, that play from April through to December. It’s a great league to follow through the European summer whilst the main leagues in Europe have their summer break.
This is a further article on the summer leagues followed by DiceLoader.com. For each league the DiceLoader club collects thousands of statistics each day, and then our automated robots and statistical tooling processes the data to feed our algorithms, which then generate predictions for all the main football markets. These predictions and the accompanying stats are made available to our members inside the main site. Why not take advantage of the free week to see for yourself the type of data that can give you the same advantage that our current members enjoy.
So back to the Brazil Serie A. What trends did this league exhibit compared to the top 20 domestic leagues in the world? This article will do a high-level analysis across the season to find out.
Goals, as normal, are our first point of analysis. In 2022, and across the regular season, the Brazil Serie A had an average of 2.38 goals per game. Looking how this average compares with the main top 20 domestic leagues this is certainly low. It ranks the Brazil Serie A 18th out of the 20 leagues. Comparing this to the league with the highest goal average in 2022, the German Bundesliga One (3.17), there is 0.79 goals a game less on average. Only the Greek Super League and the English EFL League Two have a lower average at 2.35 and 2.34 respectively. If you like to use the goal markets this is good information to have at hand.
Continuing the analysis to support other markets, how does Brazil compare on match outcomes? In 2022 the average match outcomes were as follows: home wins 44% of the time, away wins 27% of the time and draws occurred in 28% of the fixtures. This ranks the Brazil Serie A joint ninth highest for Home Win averages, 19th highest for Away Wins and joint fourth highest for Draws when compared with the top 20 domestic leagues. The lower average for Away Wins is interesting, as is the higher than normal amount of draws.
For fixtures where both teams score, in the Brazil Serie A through 2022 this occurred 50% of the time. This is the joint ninth highest average across the world’s top 20 domestic leagues. Mid table I’d say.
With the low goal average you would expect that clean sheets may occur on a higher than average basis. A team kept a clean sheet, on average for the league, on 29% of their fixtures. On league average, each team kept 10.85 clean sheets through the 38 games they played. This is the joint eighth highest average rate for the top 20 leagues.
Comparing how the Brazil Serie A did for over 0.5 goals, over 1.5 goals, over 2.5 goals and over 3.5 goals the low goal trend we’re seeing continues. For over 0.5 goals, across all 2022 fixtures this happened in 93% of the fixtures. This is the joint tenth highest rate across the top 20 leagues. For over 1.5 goals this happened in 68% of the fixtures. This is the 18th highest. For over 2.5 goals it occurred in fixtures 43% of the time and for over 3.5 goals it occurred in fixtures 22% of the time. This last three set of statistics explain why the overall average goals per game is low when compared to the top 20 world domestic leagues. For over 2.5 goals, a 43% average puts it 18th in the top 20 and is 20% lower than the league with the highest average, which is the Dutch Eredivisie with 63%. For over 3.5 goals, the 22% average is joint 18th lowest and again 20% lower than the Dutch Eredivisie with 42% of fixtures having more than 3.5 goals scored in them.
Overall it is a good interesting league. For those who like to bet against goals, based on the 2022 stats, this is definitely one to consider. Not only low goals in general but also not many games where there are more that 2 goals in them.
Hopefully this analysis has helped. This high-level analysis is just one example of the data we use at the DiceLoader club. Visit our other free articles here to find plenty more.
